Nintendo Switch Cary Case

I designed this box in preparation for my Xbox LAN Box to test out the process of creating a laser cut-able file and having it professional chopped up. The box was chopped up by Nick from https://www.pcilasercutting.com.au/

It was a convenient design to test out since I was keen to retire a different box I was using to transport my Nintendo switch and remotes around. The box I had been using was actually originally built to house my Eurorack modular synths, so it's kind of like I did two projects at once by making this box. Additionally this box was convenient as it was easy to design and create a workflow for generating laser cut-able files & It only used one sheet of wood.

The box was cut from 3mm ply since it was a wee bit cheaper than the 6mm ply, and I thought I might as well try the cheaper and weaker of the two in case its satisfactory for parts my xbox case. Turns out, its probably not! Though I might be able to use it for the 3 internal dividers between each of the Xboxs, but that obviously only saves money if laying them out on their own boards words out to be the same total amount of plywood boards needed for the design, which is possible but unlikely.

Proof I designed the box I guess?

A WIP progress image I made. I did all of this in one sitting when I decided I had to verify the laser-cutting design process not only technically, but also financially and practically. I think it was a really productive tangent project to the Xbox project and I learnt a couple new things!

A video I recorded to document my progress
